This illustration came from an interaction my sister had with my oldest nephew. He made donuts with my mom and was excited to share them with my sister. Like most of us, my sister was trying to ‘be good’ and watch what she was eating. My nephew was upset because he had worked hard to make the donut. It was then that she realized she should just eat the f’n donut.
This January, my sister, Lauren, lost her battle with colon cancer. She was beautiful, brave and had the most sparkling and magnetic personality of anyone I know. My sister was so thankful for the friends and family that were there to support her in so many practical ways. Even in unpractical ways – ‘spoiling’ her as she took advantage of every day she had.
It pained her to think that anyone would have to walk this hard path alone. Giving the profits of these products specifically to patients who don’t have the resources or community of support to help them is such a beautiful way to honor her.
100% of the profits from every product that has this design will be donated to Siteman Cancer Center here in St. Louis. Her sparkle will be reflected in each product – whether through actual sparkles or metallic foil.
